We are close to wrapping up a tumultuous season for the Men's Division 3. With each team having just one or two matches remaining in their schedules, let's take a look into what each team is fighting for.

Looking into the East, two teams have stood atop the mountain. Cape Fear and Southern Pines have both done well to secure playoff spots coming later this month. The question still remains as to who will come out on top.

According to Rugby Xplorer, the results are unclear. Results from the Cape Fear matchup against Tobacco Road from September 13th, 2025 are not available on the website nor either team's social media. The 2026 fixture saw Cape Fear come back from 22-5 down at the half to win 26-22.

Southern Pines have the upper hand against Cape Fear, having taken both regular season matchups. However, split results against Tobacco Road have left SoPi in second position on points. They still have a match in hand against Onslow this upcoming Saturday.

Onslow could spoil the party for the Big Cones though. They have fought closely with everyone in their conference and have proven themselves to be a trap game on occasion. They have split results against Cape Fear, but two close losses to Fayetteville have kept Onslow out of the playoff picture for this season.

Fayetteville and Tobacco Road close out their seasons against each other on March 14th.

Charlotte and Columbia, the returning National Champs, have proven to be the heavyweights we expected this season. Charlotte took revenge for last season's misfortunes in the first bout in the first week of the season. The return fixture saw the sides draw 31-all in Columbia.

Charlotte close out their season with a Derby match against the Charlotte Barbarians, a match coinciding with several festivities. A potential rescheduling for their second match against Myrtle Beach is unknown at this point. Charlotte are looking to finish the regular season unbeaten.

Columbia unfortunately close out their season with consecutive forfeit victories from the Barbarians and Asheville. They earn full points from those matches and potentially open their calendar to schedule last-minute friendlies (wink, wink Club Admins).

A dogfight for middle-pack supremacy should be must-see TV if anyone were to livestream it. Greenville and Asheville have both achieved two victories from two against the Charlotte Barbarians. The home and away legs for these matches take place the following two Saturdays (March 14th and 21st). It is a total tossup looking into it, and both sides look to make it competitive despite not fighting for any playoff spots.

CGRU Playoff Semi-Finals for Men's Division 3 take place on March the 28th. No matter the matchups, the tension building up to that day is surely sensed by all 4 teams. Just don't wear out the popcorn button too quickly, the path to Nationals only begins there.
